Baseball is back in full-swing and the ballots for whose playing in the All-Star game for both leagues are out! Here is my prediction and on who I think will play for the American League at the 2012 All-Star game in Kansas City! I know it will be based on voting, but this is who I believe belongs in the starting lineup as of today. -- Hannah. 1B- Tie Between Prince Fielder As of right now, I think Fielder would be the better choice for first base. No only is he an All-Star defensively, bue he has hit the ball well this season having a .317 Batting Average with 2 home runs. Pujols is great right now defensively, bue he is lacking in offense. Once he gets hot though, there is no stopping Pujols. It's a little early to choose between the two as of now. 2B- Ian Kinsler Kinsler is currently the leader in the AL and 2nd to Matt Kemp in all of baseball for the most runs. Kinsler has proven numerous times that not only can het hit the ball, he can field it too. SS- Derek Jeter Jeter maybe getting old, but his talent sure isn't. He can get on base, hit extremely well and is one of the best shortstops in all of baseball! 3B- Evan Longoria Longo is on fire right now! He is one of the most gifted third basemen in all of baseball. Not only can Longoria field well, he can also perform well under pressure, which may be important if the All-Star game has a close score. Catcher- Mike Napoli He leads the AL catchers in AL catchers in RBI's and homers, and seems to always be on page with the pitcher. He is basically any teams dream catcher. DH - David Ortiz The American League has a slight advantage over the NL because of the Designated Hitter. If you have an advantage, how aobut pick the best way to keep the advantage. Ortiz has been to the Home run Derby numerous times and is hitting the ball pretty well thi season with a .436 Batting Average. he is my best bet for the DH. Outfielders - Josh Hamilton, Curtis Granderson, and Nolan Reimold Josh Hamilton is on fire right now! With a batting average of .418, 15 runs, and 17 RBI's so far this season, it'd be crazy for him not to play! Granderson is hitting the ball pretty well right now and he is an excellent outfielder. Reimold is a young guy who has a hot streak last week, he is batting for average and power. He is also leading the AL in slugging percentage. | I can't believe it is this time of the year already.. I can't believe that people like Hannah and I are already thinking about how deserves to be in the All Star game.. I've compiled my predictions on who deserves to be in the All-Star game this year in Kansas City. -- Morgan 1B- Prince Fielder Right now, I believe that Prince Fielder has shown that he can make the transition from the National League better then Albert Pujols, which is why Prince Fielder is my choice. The man is an amazing hitter and isn't too shabby when it comes to defense either. 2B- Robinson Cano Robinson Cano is making quite a name for himself. He may be one of the best hitters to ever play the game, he is feared by a lot of pitchers and is a great teammate. He has incredible hitting, his defense is incredible! He is always in the right place at the right time. I believe that he deserves to be in All-Star game. SS- Derek Jeter I really don't know what to say about Jeter.. He is one of the greatest to play the game and his age isn't olding him back. He still is having an incredible year and putting up amazing numbers. 3B- Evan Longoria I realize a lot of the players are the same as Hannah's but, I for sure think that Evan deserves to be an All-Star. He put up a 30 home run season last year and he has proven that he can be clutch. He isn't cooling off this year either. Catcher- Alex Avila Avila is a young catcher from Detriot, and I can't believe the season he put up last season. He caught almost every single game at the end of the season and into the playoffs. He can handle a pitching staff with one of the greatest, Justin Verlander. DH- Justin Morneau I'm not just saying this because I'm a Twins fan, I honestly believe that Justin deserves to be in the All-Star game! He is one of the best defensive first basemen to play the game, but unfortunately he isn't going to play first basemen all year long like we are used too. He is a fantastic hitter and a great guy to be around Outfielders- Curtis Granderson, Josh Willingham, and Adam Jones. Again with the Josh Willingham, not going to just chose because he is from Minnesota, but I'm chosing him cause have you seen his numbers? He started off the season with a 15 game hitting streak. Curtis Granderson has enourmous power and great defense. Adam Jones is the whole package... he can hit for Power, Average, He has great defense and speed. |
