I have no rights to any of the pictures in this article. (Unless stated otherwise) Picture from twinsbaseball.com 10. The Ride of Ben Revere - everything from the tumbling triple, to his amazing catches and his stolen bases. Ben Revere was fun to watch. He broke the Twins all-time rookie stolen base record and ended the season with 34 stolen bases. He robbed many people of hits and the most memorable one against the Orioles. Although he never got that first home run, he tried many times for inside-the-parkers and is known for flipping the catchers over at home... Although he may be in pain from giving 110%, Ben Always has a smile on his face! via David's twitter handle @DAVIDprice14 9. David's Birthday Present for his Mom - David Price delivered the perfect birthday present for his momma this year! David pitched against Toronto and opened the game with 7 strikeouts in a row. He ended the game with 14 strikeouts. Then returned to the dug out and wrote "Happy Birthday Mama!" on his hand and showed it to the camera! via cbsnews.com 8. Revere Robs Vlad - BEN REVERE WITH ONE OF THE GREATEST CATCHES YOU'LL SEE ALL YEAR...and it truly was. Ben Revere robbing Vlad.. A fantastic play, the best I've ever seen. As posted on twitter by a lot of the players, "the best catch they have ever seen" and "the catch of the year" it was truly amazing! This picture belong to me! 7. Harmon Passes Away. - Not the event that this happened, but what the Twins did to honor Harmon was awesome. They won 3 games in a row.. In honor of Harmon, had a ceremony and wore Number 3 on there Jersey all year. They also wore the old-timer jersey's as there home jersey's all year in honor of him. picture from newyorkyankees.com 6. Mariano Rivera, sets a record - Rivera saved a game against the Minnesota Twins. Rivera broke Trevor Hoffman's saves record and set a new one with 602 saves and ended the season with 603 saves. This record will most likely never be broken again. via sports-glory.com 5. DJ3K - Derek Jeter's 3,000th hit comes in as number 5. This was a big event that happened this season. Derek got his 3,000th hit of of David Price at Yankee Stadium. It was a home run that was caught by a Yankee fan, who returned it to Derek after the game. Derek ended up going 5-for-5 & getting the game winning hit on the day of hit #3,000. 4. Cooper Stone. - The Texas Rangers did a great thing for little Cooper Stone. Josh Hamilton threw a ball to Cooper's dad over the summer who fell over the rail and died in this tragic event. Cooper got to throw out the first pitch to Josh Hamilton in Game 1 of the ALDS. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. I still get tears every time I see this video. I'm telling you now, KLEENEX WARNING! God Bless The Stone Family. via twinkietown.com 3. Liria-no-no- WOW! I remember watching this game with my dad thinking, This is gonna be painful... and it was, Liriano starting walking people and it was painful, but with the help of the double plays and some fine defensive plays by Denard Span in the outfield. Liriano, no-hit the Chicago White Sox. Picture via. tampabayrays.com 2. The Wild Rays! - The Rays made an incredible comeback the last month of the season to clinch the American League Wild Card. In the 8th inning, the Rays were losing 7-0 to the Yankees. A few bases loaded walks and then Evan Longoria walked up and hit a 2 run bomb to make it 7-6 Then in the 9th inning Dan Johnson tied it up on a homerun and eventually Evan Longoria hit a walk-off home run to win it all for the Rays! The Rays were headed to the Wild Card. via me MorganFoxPhotography 1. Mr. 600. - As most of you probably predicted, Jim Thome hitting number 600 against the Detroit Tigers is my number 1 moment for this year. He hit #599 & #600 in the same game, in a win against Detroit. Michael Cuddyer was the first one to meet him at home plate and eventually, his wife, kids & dad came down to congratulate him. _________________________________________________________________________________________________

Sigh, as a baseball fan, I would love to congratulate the Cardinals. I was definitely pulling for the Rangers and I really wanted them to pull this off for Nolan Ryan & Ron Washington. It didn't happen, but that is okay. They had a great season and a lot of amazing memories to hang on to this year.
The St. Louis Cardinals also had an amazing season, like I've said before, I don't really like the Cardinals but I'm a huge baseball fan and I think it is really cool what they did. They had a "Never say Never" attitude. They NEVER gave up. They were 10.5 games out of the wild card...clinched on the last day of the season. First team they played in the post season, was the Phillies....they knocked them out. The next team was the Brewers....they knocked them out. They never gave up. Next up, they had to play the Texas Rangers and there amazing offense. They beat them too, but it was a great series on both sides. Each team fought back and they played great baseball. Aside from game 6, which was a little sloppy for both sides, I thought this series was very very well played. Also, Congratulations to David Freese for winning the World Series Most Valuable Player award. This was defiantly deserved, he had an amazing post season and world series. Pretty cool that he got to do this in front of his home crowd! Congrats! Congratulations to the St. Louis Cardinals on a fantastic regular season and post season run! Holy run support, That is what the Cardinals got last night. They scored 16 runs, Albert Pujols hit 3 home runs to contribute. The Rangers scored 7 runs. There were a large amount of runs scored last night, and a lot of 30 minute + innings last night, the game lastest so long, That I had to go to bed before it was over, so I can't even tell you how the last few innings went. Tonight is Game 4. Edwin Jackson (St. Louis Cardinals) vs. Derek Holland (Texas Rangers) at 8:00ET/7:00CT on FOX. Who do you want to win the World Series? Jeremy Hellickson, of the Tampa Bay Rays won the Baseball America Rookie of the Year in 2011. This is well deserving for Jeremy, he had a fantastic season this year. Jeremy's numbers this year were, 13-10 with an 2.95 ERA, He had 2 complete games and 1 complete game shut out. He pitched 189 IP with 117 Strike outs. Jeremy pitched fantastic almost all year long, he had a few tough games but he started 29 games and 20 of his starts were quality starts. Jeremy was involved in a great starting rotation that had James Shields & David Price in it. Jeremy Hellickson pitched good enough to be the number one starter, but in a tough rotation he acted as the number 3. I remember when Jeremy pitched against the Twins earlier this year and he was straight up nasty, he has good control and stays calm on the mound. He is a nice and young solid pitcher. Congratulations on a fantastic season Jeremy and good luck next year! The Official R.O.Y. award the "Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year" award winner will be announced later.
The Cardinals took game 1 of the World Series, I don't know what to really say because I didn't have enough time to watch it last night! I was able to watch part of Game 2 of the World Series and it was a pitching duel for most of the game! Until the 9th inning when the Rangers scored 2 runs. That pretty much explains it all right there, that they didn't even score till the 9th inning. Then Neftali Feliz came in the game and saved it out for the Texas Rangers! Their victory ties the series at 1-1.
I'd like to apologize for my lack of information in the my recent blogs, I've been really busy lately and not had much time to blog or watch the games! I also won't have much time this weekend to post either! Make sure you vote below! Alright, so I'll just say it right away, this is not what I wanted to be writing about right now, I wanted the Brewers to win the National League Championship.. I can also say that this will not be as exciting as my Texas, American League post because I don't have a lot of interest in the Cardinals!
The Cardinals did have an amazing run though! The fact that they were so far out of the wildcard the WILDCARD and they ended up winning it on the last day of the season. Then no one predicted them passing the Phillies in the ALDS but they did that too. It is really no surprise that they made it past the Brewers after all the have done this season. I have a lot of respect for Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday and all they have accomplished this season, but the player I was most impressed with this post season won the MVP. David Freese, he has been clutch. He has a lot of very important hits and has protected Albert for a few of these games. Albert Pujols is a free agent this season and this might be his last year in St. Louis and I'm sure winning the World Series is all he wants! I believe that the Cardinals have a very great number 1 starter in Chris Carpentar, but I don't think they have much more after that, besides there fantastic bullpen! The Texas Rangers will be a very tough line-up for them to face since it is so deep with players that can hit the ball out of the ball park. Congratulations St. Louis! Good Luck in the World Series. Most Importantly. GO TEXAS!!!! :) WOW! That is one word to describe the Texas Rangers game! They were down 2-0 going into the 3rd inning, when they exploded for 9 runs. That included 14 batters, and 2 Michael Young doubles. Many people were saying that Michael Young was struggling this post season, but he defiantly exploded for a show tonight. He had 2 doubles in the 3rd inning, along with a solo homerun in the 7th inning. After struggling the first few games, he has started getting more hits and being the Michael Young that they had all season long.
That was far from all the offense in this game, there was plenty of more to come in the 7th inning. After Michael Young's homer, Beltre struck out, followed by a Mike Napoli single.. Then Nelson Cruz came up to bat, he already has 5 homers in the ALCS alone! And BAM! That one left the park also. Number 6 of the ALCS, not only did he have another home run, he made a couple of great defensive plays during the game. At this point in the game the Rangers were leading 15-4. The Texas Rangers made the best of Game 6 of the ALCS, they proved to everyone that they were capable of winning the World Series. I believe that they have the offense and the bullpen to make that happen. Even though the team that they are facing has not yet be determined. I think that there team is feared, they have one of the best line-ups in the MLB, considering that Nelson Cruz who had 6 home runs was hitting 7th in the line-up. Ian Kinsler 2-for-5, 2 runs scored, 3 RBI's, 1 walk. Elvis Andrus 2-for-5, 2 runs scored, 1 walk. Josh Hamilton 1-for-3, 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 1 walk, Sac Fly Michael Young 3-for-6 , 2 runs scored, 5 RBI's. Adrian Beltre 2-for-6, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI. Mike Napoli 1-for-4, 2 runs scored, 1 walk. Nelson Cruz 2-for-4, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI's, 1 walk. David Murphy 2-for-2, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI's, 3 walks. Endy Chavez 0-for-1 Craig Gentry(PH) 2-for-4, 1 RBI. Derek Holland 4.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 K's. Feldman 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0R, 0ER. Alexi Ogando 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 K's. Mike Adams 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER. N. Feliz 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0R, 0ER. Rangers win 15-5 and they are your AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! Congratulations guys! _________________________________________________________________________________________________ American League Champion Series MVP is Nelson Cruz, He had 6 home runs in the ALCS alone. Which is an all-time record. He also set the record for RBI's in a series and that is 13 RBI's. Nelson Cruz deserved this award, he had an amazing series with his defense & offense! Friday, September 30th, 2011 was game 1 of the American League Division Series. Rays Manager Joe Maddon shocked everyone by putting 22 year old Matt Moore out there for game one against a very powerful Texas Rangers line up. Matt Moore only had 1 previous Major League start and it was against the Yankees. Joe Maddon was a genius. Matt Moore pitched 7 shut out innings, allowing only 2 hits and got the win. Moore beat Texas' ace CJ Wilson who only went 5 innings and allowed 8 runs, 6 of which were earned.
Matt Moore was fantastic and so was his battery mate Kelly Shoppach, not only did he call a great game, Kelly Shoppach had 3 hits including 2 home runs and 5 RBIs. Johnny Damon also had a home run. With the win on Friday the Rays take a 1-0 lead in the best of 5 series against the Texas Rangers. Saturday isn't going to be an easy task for Texas either as the Rays have ace James Shields going. James Shields has 11 complete games this season including 4 complete game shut outs. Texas have young pitcher Derek Holland going who also has 4 complete game shut outs, but has been inconsistent this year. Here are the numbers for the match-up! _________________________________________________________________________________________________ James Shields is 5-2 against Texas with an ERA of 3.05. Derek Holland is 3-1 against Tampa with an ERA of 6.51. Game 2 is on Saturday, October 1st at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. |
